Blood DrivesAboutSPHS Key Club partners with OneBlood to host blood drives for all students at SPHS. Volunteer opportunities are available for all Key Club members. OneBlood and Key Club's aim is to provide safe, available, and affordable blood to those in need. Sign UpDonating blood: to schedule a time slot to donate blood, you can ask our volunteer teams that visit classrooms for an appointment or go to our sign-up table during lunch break on the days preceding the Blood Drive. Volunteering (Key Club members only): the Chair of Blood Drives will post sign-ups on the Facebook page in the weeks leading up to the drive. There are opportunities to be on the promotion team that visits classrooms during the school day, to manage the sign-up tables at lunch, and to staff the blood drive, performing tasks such as receiving donors, distributing food, and allocating donors to the buses. The blood drive necessitates a maximum of three volunteers per period. If you have any questions, contact our Blood Drive committee chair, Anna Hewett. Blood drive dates will be put on our Google Calendar. EligibilityTo accept and promote the following ideals:

On donation day, make sure to bring an ID card (Student ID, driver license, or equivalent) and your appointment card! You may still be turned away on the day of the blood drive for health-related reasons. A common reason for rejection is having a low iron level in your blood. In the days leading up to your donation, eating iron-rich foods can help ensure your donation proceeds successfully. For additional information on eligibility, visit https://www.oneblood.org/give-blood/basics.html. After donating, it is recommended that you drink water and avoid rigorous exercise. |

Homeless MealsAboutHomeless meals is a weekly service opportunity in which SPHS Key Club makes meals (including peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, snacks, and water) for the homeless. Sign UpHomeless meals generally take place Fridays after school. During these point opportunities, members may help make sandwiches, donate supplies (jam, peanut butter, bread, juice boxes, snacks, etc.), or deliver the lunches to help support the project. Attendance and supply slots are limited, so these are available by sign-up only. Sign-ups are usually made available on Tuesdays at 4:00 P.M. prior to assemblies. For more information on the exact dates of the assemblies, supplies needed, and sign-ups, check the Facebook page or contact our Homeless Meals Committee members, Sage Summers and Sally Rozelle. |
